There is an easy driving tour. There is no city of Chancellorsville. The name of the house on a country crossroads was called the Chancellor House. This Chancellorsville farm was the epicenter of Lt. General Stonewall Jackson’s famous flank attack on the Federal Army in the late afternoon of May 2nd, 1863. The Chancellorsville Battlefield Auto Tour starts at the Chancellorsville Visitor Center, eight miles west of the Fredericksburg exit 130 (Virginia Route 3) on Interstate 95. The Visitor Center is a good place to to orient yourself to the battlefield using the maps and exhibits and speaking with the knowledgeable rangers before beginning your tour.
