Kwong KK(1), Chesler DA, Weisskoff RM, Donahue KM, Davis TL, Ostergaard L, Campbell TA, Rosen BR. Author information: (1)MGH-NMR Center, Department of Radiology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Charlestown 02129, USA. Our purpose was to evaluate whether dynamic susceptibility contrast-enhanced (DSC) and dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) perfusion-weighted imaging (PWI) metrics can effectively differentiate between recurrent tumor and posttreatment changes within the enhancing signal abnormality on conventional MRI. Abstract. Objective: To determine consistencies between MR perfusion weighted imaging (PW-MRI) and CT perfusion imaging (CTP) in assessing hemodynamics of patients with moyamoya disease (MMD). Methods: Images of PWI and CTP scan [including the map of cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral blood volume (CBV), time to peak (TTP), and mean transmit time In summary, MR perfusion imaging is an emerging clinical tool that enables assessment of regional cerebral hemodynamics using a variety of techniques . The most common clinically applicable technique uses rapid T2- or T2 * -weighted imaging to monitor the first pass of a bolus injection of exogenous paramagnetic contrast material.

Pathogenesis of migraine remains unclear and, recently, perfusion-weighted imaging (PWI) has provided a non-invasive method to study hemodynamic changes during acute attacks. Methods: Two female patients were admitted in our hospital suffering from prolonged hemiparesis. MR perfusion-weighted imaging may help in differentiating between nonenhancing gliomas and nonneoplastic lesions in the cervicomedullary junction. We have studied four patients using MR perfusion and MR diffu-sion imaging. Two patients had typical visual aura and two had a primary per-sistent visual disturbance (visual snow phenomenon). All patients had normal conventional structural MR imaging.

Dynamic susceptibility contrast perfusion-weighted (PW) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging has been extensively used clinically to evaluate the hemodynamic abnormalities associated with a wide range of cerebrovascular and cerebral neoplastic diseases (1,2). This case demonstrates that perfusion- and diffusion-weighted MR imaging can be instrumental in the selection of candidates for aggressive stroke therapy. Arterial anastomoses can provide alternate access to ischemic vascular beds and merit careful evaluation during intraarterial thrombolysis. PMID: 14561610 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE] MR perfusion-weighted imaging (PWI) techniques are discussed in more detail in Chapter 31. Like CT perfusion, MR perfusion provides CBV–CBF–MTT–Tmax maps. One of the biggest advantages of utilizing MRI as a perfusion test is that the core can be delineated accurately using the region of diffusion restriction on the DWI sequence, rather than being inferred from perfusion data.

In general simplified terms, highly cellular tissues or those with cellular swelling exhibit lower diffusion coefficients. Contrast-enhanced axial reference T1-weighted imaging was performed after the perfusion MR imaging data had been obtained. An experienced neuroradiologist reviewed the conventional MR images and evaluated each lesion on the basis of location (supratentorial or infratentorial), tumor characteristics (solid, cystic, or necrotic), and type of enhancement (none, homogeneous, heterogeneous, or ring). and perfusion.

Currently, we have some different perfusion- DIFFUSION & PERFUSION IMAGING Conventional CT and MR imaging are not sufficiently sensitive to evaluate acute stroke. CT is perfectly adequate to detect intracranial hemorrhage, but in the case of nonhemorrhagic stroke, the CT scan may be negative for the first 24 to 36 hours. MR perfusion imaging was performed using a bolus tracking technique with dynamic susceptibility‐weighted images. Colour coded maps of relative cerebral blood volume, mean transit time and bolus arrival time were generated, as well as time‐signal intensity curves over the anterior, middle and posterior cerebral artery territories. In a study comparing a multitude of perfusion techniques (T2-/T2 ★-weighted DSC and T1-weighted dynamic contrastenhanced perfusion MR imaging, H 2 15 O positron emission tomography (PET), and pulsed ASL), Lüdemann et al. 60 demonstrated a nearly linear correlation between the various parameters assessed with these techniques. 2018-03-27 · Purpose The prognostic parameters of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) include the pathological degree of tumor differentiation, clinical staging, and presence of metastatic cervical lymph nodes.
